Historic Main Street Annapolis
All quiet after sunrise and quite a contrast to its tourist-travelled cobblestone sidewalks and street. Main Street is the bustling hub of Annapolis. On a given weekend the streets are bumper to bumper while sidewalks teem with tourists, local Naptowners and Midshipmen from the United States Naval Academy. This photo captures the quiet before the shopping storm begins on a Saturday morning in early Spring. On the horizon at the top of Main Street is the spire of St Anne's Episcopal Church, located on State Circle and originally founded around 1700.
